French& Belgian Comics illustrators - #Inspiration

40 days Dans le Desert - Drawings by Moebius (Jean Giraud)
Jean Giraud (1938-2012) is a french artist, cartoonist and writer. He earned worldwide fame, predominantly under the pseudonym Mœbius.
And if you've seen 'The Silver Surfer' in 'The Fantastic 4' Movie, well, you know who did it now :)

More about Moebius in Wiki and In his Website

Illustrations of Phillipe Druillet

Durillet (1944- )is a French Comic Artist and Creator. Famous for illustrations like Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' and ' Salammbo' (The work above). As you can see his artworks have a Dark, more 'Lovecraft' and 'Macabre' Inclinations.

More about him Here. A Photostream of the 'Dracula' works Here. A Chronology of his works.

Drawings of Enki Bilal

Though Born in Yugoslavia, Bilal moved to Paris at the age of 9, therefore counted as French. He is a Comic artist, and a Movie Director.

Knowing just this given text, you will instantly notice a more cinematic approach in his illustrations, weather for the Stories he write or illustrate in or the 'Affiches' (or the Movie Posters) he does, you can notice that he automatically Mixes his Art and Cinematic skills.

(P.S. You can see such approach in the works of short lived but eternal works of Egyptian Artist and Director Shady Abdel-Salam)

Works of Bilal Here and Google Images

Jacques Tardi
Stated to have a more Hegre style, He has a more Caricaturist approach unlike the previously mentioned artists. He has comics written in French, English and Greek.

More of his works Here

'Tintin' par Hegre

Hegre's orginial name is Georges Remi (1907- 1983) is Belgian.
Briefly if you have grown up in the Egyptian 90's then you must have crossed by the Worldwide Known Tintin comics, originally in french but we read it in Arabic, and I read it later in Eng. and French... I believe if there's Oompa Loompa Language Tintin will be there too :)

This is 'KUNsT': Time in Olia Lialina's Artworks

Away from what's happening in the political realm right now (as we wait here for Morsi to Fall down in a matter of hrs), and away from the Design Business Realm that I have discussed Earlier; This Post is about 'Kunst' (or Art in German).

If you are a person who's been fascinated with Digital Art (like me) even before you even knew a Name for it, then this is the topic we're discussing, and We'll discuss it through two artworks, both has one common artist OLIA LIALINA (OL).

Ever since I stumbled in Lialina's artwork back in around 2008, it instantly raised questions in my mind... Like: TIME
And These are the Works I'm Placing to Discussion

'Once Upon' - By OL and Dragon Espenshied - 2011

And "The Last Real Net Art Museum" By OL - 1997

In Both works Olia Lialina suggests the factor of time, One Suggests Endlessness (The last net art museum) which is an Open source artwork where people have been adding to it 'each named and dated' since shortly after its launch, that makes the Original and the Edits Both EVERLASTING.

The Other Suggests Nostalgia; In (Once Upon) the Artists discuss going back in times of Dial-up networking and Netscape and How the Nowadays's sites like (Youtube) (Google +) (Facebook) & Even (Pintrest) would look like.

This Hypothesis and Nostalgia is one that most of us feel when we see GIF Displays, like this :)

It also raises the the question of how Accessible, Volatile (in a sense), and Everlasting these artworks are in comparison to Regular Artworks that you can only access through going to a Museum or a Gallery.
Weather DIAL-UP Networks or Wireless Networks that are like Air right now, the concept remained the Same:
"Artists Used Network, to Fight the Truth of Mortality through Making Art Eternal...Literally!"
